The Tippecanoe School Corporation is pleased to announce it has hired Kyle Spray as the new principal of Southwestern Middle School, effective July 17. He replaces Karen Shuman who accepted the position of superintendent of the Culver Community School Corporation.

Spray has 13 years of experience as a teacher and administrator. He most recently served as an assistant principal at Lafayette Jefferson High School where he assisted with the school improvement process, hiring of staff and student discipline. Spray holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree from Ball State University.

"Kyle will bring a student-centered collaborative leadership style that promotes high standards and continuous improvement," says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. "The search committee believes that his local experiences, positive demeanor and solid work ethic will help guide the school culture and provide a sense of community-school pride for students, staff, and parents."

As principal, Spray will provide leadership over operations and services at the school of almost 500 students and 40 staff members.

"I am excited to lead Southwestern Middle School because of the great reputation of the staff, students and families that make up the school community," says Spray. "Southwestern has unlimited potential, and our job as a staff will be to continue to serve our students in a way that prepares them for their path to McCutcheon and beyond."
