The Tippecanoe School Corporation welcomes Connie Harper to the TSC Board of School Trustees. The retired teacher fills the District 4 seat vacated by Brian Defreese who did not seek re-election after two terms. District 4 includes Wayne and Union Townships.

Harper is a Golden Apple award-winning teacher who taught in the TSC for 32 years. She has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Purdue University. Since retiring in 2018, Harper has worked with McGraw-Hill on curricular materials and Administrator Assistance on special projects.

Harper says serving on the school board allows her to continue her commitment to parents, students, teachers and the community: “I think I will bring the perspective of a former classroom teacher who understands the challenges of today’s learners and those teachers who work with students. I’ve continued to travel the state of Indiana talking and working with administrators and teachers on various concerns and topics. Hopefully, I can bring a fresh perspective to TSC as a board member.”

Harper and her husband have three children who graduated from McCutcheon High School. “I am proud to be a TSC educator and believe wholeheartedly that this corporation is the best in the state,” Harper says. “I am looking forward to my time on the school board.”

Harper was sworn into office during the January 8 meeting.
