Graduates from McCutcheon and Harrison high schools will soon walk across the stage, turning their tassels and stepping into their futures.

Commencement exercises for McCutcheon High School will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 1, followed by Harrison High School’s ceremony at 4 p.m. Both events will be held at Purdue University’s Elliott Hall of Music.

This year, McCutcheon High School celebrates 358 graduating seniors during a milestone moment—the school’s 50th anniversary. The Class of 2025 will be honored with speeches from seven valedictorians and a video featuring performances by senior choir students will be shown prior to the start of the ceremony.

“The Class of 2025 is a special class as they graduate during McCutcheon’s 50th anniversary,” says Principal Gloria Grigsby. “We look forward to the bright futures ahead of these students and the enrichment they will bring to the world around them. We wish them well as they exemplify all they learned at McCutcheon including the importance of positivity, respect, integrity, determination and empathy, the core values of MHS PRIDE.”

McCutcheon students completed 330 Advanced Placement (AP) exams this year. The school is awarding 72 Academic Honors Diplomas, 23 with distinction, 14 Technical Honors Diplomas and 22 graduates are earning both academic and technical honors. Three students earned both distinction and technical honors, and 18 seniors have committed to military service.

At Harrison High School, 480 graduates will be recognized at the afternoon ceremony, which will include remarks from the class president and 18 valedictorians.

“Looking at our graduating class, it’s clear they possess a powerful combination of skills and come from so many different walks of life, each bringing their own special strengths to the table,” says Principal Cory Marshall. “We see sharp minds, caring hearts, creative spirits and determined individuals. This diverse group is equipped not only with knowledge but also with a wealth of perspectives and abilities that will serve them well as they embark on their futures.”

Harrison students completed 422 AP exams. The Class of 2025 includes 178 students earning Academic Honors Diplomas, 44 with distinction, 9 Technical Honors Diplomas and 4 students earning both academic and technical honors. Twenty Harrison graduates will enter the military following commencement.
