The Lafayette Regional Association of Realtors Inc. (LRAOR) is helping families by donating funds to eliminate outstanding school meal balances for students in the Tippecanoe School Corporation (TSC).

Thanks to overwhelming support for their fundraising efforts, the organization surpassed its goal of $4,579—enough to completely clear negative meal balances for students who fall below the federal guidelines for free lunch.

“The mission of our outreach committee is to identify and meet real and urgent needs in Greater Lafayette,” says Grant Thompson, president of LRAOR. “We know families are facing challenges, and paying off the meal debt through our committee’s fundraising helps ease that stress. Our members are proud to help make that possible for families who need it most.”

“We are incredibly grateful to the Lafayette Regional Association of Realtors for their generosity and commitment to our students,” says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. “Their investment in our schools helps promote a strong community, while also relieving a burden for many families.”

The TSC ensures every student receives a meal, regardless of their account balance. TSC Director of Nutrition Services Ashley Karshen says providing breakfast and lunch to children ensures they are ready to learn.

“Nutritious meals are vital to the success of our students in the classroom,” Karshen says. “While we make sure no student ever goes without a meal, this support helps reduce the financial strain that can come with unpaid balances.”
