Science

Science and Engineering Process Standards:

These standards span all three grade levels and content areas to stress the importance of developing scientific thinking and experimentation. Reading for Literacy in Science and Writing for Literacy in Science are also utilized in each grade in order to develop content mastery as well as prepare students for college and careers.

6th Grade Focus:

Major topics in sixth grade include engineering, motion, energy forms and behavior, gravity and inertia, Earth in space, the solar system, and ecology.

7th Grade Focus:

Major topics in seventh grade include engineering, properties of matter, Newton's Laws of Motion, conservation of energy, geology, cells, and body systems.

8th Grade Focus:

Major topics in eighth grade include engineering, chemistry, climate change, natural resources, genetics, and evolution.
